I haven’t posted as per Project Dumpster Fire’s status in a while. To be honest, not much has changed, but in a way that is a good thing. Also I haven’t taken many pictures so this post will be mostly dog pictures. I don’t think anyone will complain.

At last writing, I’d corrected the air-fuel ratio, but still needed to replace the fuel pumps and a few other things.
A few weekends ago I popped in a new feed pump after confirming the old one was dead. At the same time I also popped in a hot start relay to hopefully prevent having to replace the intermittent starter.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Unfortunately, when installing the hot start relay I knocked a wire off the starter, or at least something in the area of the starter, and could not figure out where the damn thing went. Clearly I had connected it in the past as it had a new crimp terminal on it in the style that I use, but I didn’t have any documentation on where it went.
Rather than hopping on the internet and asking the Saab community, I figured I’d consult the variety of service manuals I own for this vehicle and see what they say.
Nothing. They say nothing.
The starter wiring section only shows two wires going to the starter, both of which are accounted for. It does acknowledge there is another terminal, but doesn’t show anything connected to it.
TO THE INTERNET!
Long story short (too late) you have to know what is attached to that terminal in order to know what is attached to that terminal.
If you know the connection is for the cold start injector, you can look up the cold start injector wiring and see it there. If you don’t well... fuck you I guess?
Ok, so that connected and the fuel pumps replaced and the little dumpster fire is running pretty well.
...except the idle is still hunting.
Unplugging the O2 sensor fixes this, so... I guess I’ll replace that (again) and see if the problem clears up. They’re only like $14 and access couldn’t be better.
Bonus
I started yet another rebuild of my DDR pads. If anyone knows a good PS2 controller breakout/ DIY kit lemme know, because these hacked together electronics are getting worse and worse. I’ve owned one pad for almost 20 years (OMG wut) and it has been rebuilt more times than I can remember at this point.

Dog B is a good boy.
Also this comment made me think there were a bunch of typos and the article was unreadable.
There were a lot of typos.

Dunno! Best guess is a pit+boxer mix? Big head and chest, but largeish and not as muscled as many pitbulls that I’ve seen. He is a big, lazy sweetheart.
Wow and I have like no photos of him standing up haha. This is the best one I could find. (I swear he is not skinny)

cold start injector
I had to look up what that even was. Pretty sure none of my cars have ever had such a thing. I don’t think my brother’s 900 has one either, or we probably would have come across it when we went over the fuel system. Is it only on turbo models?

I think it is 8-valve only? Since injection is continuous and there is no electronic control of fuel pressure, this is pretty much the only way to add more fuel for starting and emissions.

And it’s wired to the starter because... this injector only needs to be energized while the vehicle is cranking?

It is wired to the starter for.... reasons. I honestly have no idea. The cold start injector works all the time so... who knows. I know it is supposed to deliver fuel upon starting for up to 10 seconds, but I have been unable (and unwilling) to decipher the wiring diagrams.

Oh I should say the rednecks on the last float trip we took him on were rather insistent he was a “black mouth cur” but I have my doubts.

Anythibg that had the Bosch mechanical injection has a cold start injector (VW’s etc). I had a Super Beetle that the cold star injector failed and I had to use ether to start it almost everytime.

No, they may be right about that. My girl is half Anatolian Shepherd, half Black Mouth Cur:
Anatolians and Curs have similar coloring in the face, but Curs have that slender body and a skinny tail like yours. I could definitely see some Pit or Boxer in the shape of the head.

She looks like a good doggo. After posting that reply I did a little more looking and yeah... he could be a black mouth cur mix. It helps that there doesn’t seem to be much of a breed standard for the dog, being a fairly new breed.
Funny! I had Dog A DNA tested and he came up as a Anatolian Shepherd, Lhasa Apso, Papillon mix. I didn’t put much stock in the results as I’d rather not imagine a 100lb+ dog making love to a 15lbs dog to produce a 45lbs dog that resembles none of those.

Interesting. My 85 Jaguar has some kind of Bosch controller like yours, and also the cold start injector. I think mine works off some relays; fortunately it’s been reliable so I haven’t had to mess with it. I’ve actually had more trouble hot restarting, and even that isn’t too bad.
Another funny story - the starter on the TR6 has a couple not-connected wires. I tried hooking one up and it was the seat belt alarm (and thus why it was disconnected)
